LG Optimus G II Snapdragon 800 with Coming This August

Last Wednesday, Korean based phone manufacturer LG Electronics announced that the successors for the LG flagship phone, the Optimus Gwill come with a super-fast Snapdragon 800 processor and is expected to be made official at a mysterious press event on August 7th in New York.

While LG have started to send out the invites for the event on Thursday, not everything about the scheduled event is known but, LG is expected to unveil its next generation of flagship device. Except as we all know, LG long term collaboration between Qualcomm is set to continue with this device, which is not a big surprise after last year Optimus G was among the first smartphone in the market to come with by-then the new quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

CNET have done some benchmark testing on the new “system-on-a-chip” processor, which validate the claim that was made by Qualcomm and LG that the latest chip is up to 75 percent better in performance than its predecessor the Snapdragon S4, Snapdragon 800 also promise to increase data speeds and render real-time graphics much faster while reducing latency on LTE networks.

The Snapdragon 800 clocks in at 2.3GHz, with 2GB RAM and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean overlaid with LG’s custom UI on the Optimus G II. Other specifications for the device that are implied in a series of leaked images include an Ultra HD 5.5-inch display, a very small side bezel (one of the thinnest ever) for ‘edge-to-edge’ display, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Google To Launch 2nd Gen Nexus 7 With Android 5.0

Google could soon launched the next generation of the successful Nexus 7 tablet. CNET reports that a Korean analyst claimed that the screen makers for the device are preparing to begin the supply of the display for the new Nexus 7 Tablet in June.

IHS researcher Ricky Park who named the tablet as the Nexus II, says it will be equipped with a better Full HD 1920 x 1200 pixel screen. If Ricky prediction turn out to be right on the card, it mark a very significant upgrade over the original Nexus 7’s 1280×800-pixel display. With the new pixel density of 323 pixel per inch, it can go on par with Apple’s Retina Display.

The Full HD display for the 2nd generation Nexus 7 tablet would be made by Japan Display and APU although the device will be built by rather unfamiliar Taiwanese manufacture Quanta. Google for some reason left out Asus although the company was the manufacturer of the first Nexus 7.

Park also expects the Nexus 7 II to be on sale in the third quarter of the year. Taiwan’s DigiTimes expects to show up even earlier – somewhere in July itself, and a 16GB version will run around $229 (estimated RM720).

The expected price is almost double the price of the Original Nexus 7 which go on sale in US for $199 while the Malaysian version was retailed around RM 1099 at launch.

Goole had traditionally used the Nexus line-up to introduce the new version of its Android and with Google leaving the new Android OS altogether at Android I/O, we could also be looking at a July/August launch date for new Android 5.0.

Low-Cost iPhone To Cost $99?

Based on a report by Reuters, Apple could soon expands its iPhone range with new model that include larger screen, multiple colour choices and even more affordable price. Based on numerous source that close to the company, Apple is seriously considering a screen size of 4.7-inched and 5.7 inches for the next generations of iPhone. These sources also claimed that the models with larger screened models would launch next year if Apple finalise the plan.

This reports from Reuters came after an analyst’s also claim that the upcoming entry-level model could come in a several different colours. It still remain unclear whether the price mentioned refers to a device tied to a contract or is the price without any contract.

The Publication’s source of the news also said that while Apple’s plan may see some changes, the current schedule – assuming that Apple decide to stick with its initial plan – includes the launch of iPhone 5S later this year alongside a low cost iPhone. The iPhone 5S is said to include a fingerprint sensor.
Reuters also report that Apple will assign its long-time partner, Foxconn to manufacture the iPhone 5S, while Pegatron will assemble the cheaper version of iPhone.

The rumours regarding a low-cost iPhone were reported in January by the Wall Street Journal, and the same paper said that Pegatron is linked to the respective project last. Apple supremo, Tim Cook said that the company is not getting in to idea of releasing an iPhone with a larger screen at the moment due to the company unwillingness to compromise in image quality and battery life.
