After making its official appearance at Delhi, India around
a month ago, Nokia has finally brought its dual-sim Asha 501 phone to our
shores with a price tag of RM 299. The phone is set to be available in stores
around Klang Valley by the end of this month and as early as July for the rest
of the states.
The phone also is the first of the Asha platform which
according to the Nokia spokesperson during the launch is a refurbished version
of its Series 40 platform whereby users can use the phone with gesture – or named
‘Swipe’ by Nokia. It encourage one-handed use of the phone. The phone also come
with Facebook, Twitter, Opera, UC browser and a couple of games out of the box.
Nokia Asha 501 also come with a features called Fastlane
which is similar to notification centre and multitasking page all combine into
one. Nokia called it as Present and Past whereby the Present includes currently
running apps while Past show message and notifications you’ve received.
The phone also equipped with a 3.2-megapixel fixed focus
camera on the rear. Also available for Asha 501 is interchangeable shells that
come in 6 different colour namely bright red, cyan, yellow, bright green, white
and black. On the drawback, Asha 501 has no 3G connectivity but has WiFi
support and EDGE for data connectivity.
